A Compact, Affordable and Clever Hotel in the Heart of Old Québec
AtypiQ Hotel is a thoughtfully designed compact hotel located at 109 Sainte-Anne Street, within the walls of Old Québec, less than 500 meters from Château Frontenac.
It is the ideal place for travelers who want to explore Québec City on foot, sleep in a comfortable private room, and enjoy an exceptional location. AtypiQ is particularly well suited for stays of 1 to 4 nights, city getaways, car-free travel, couples, solo travelers, friends, festival-goers, and remote workers passing through the city.
AtypiQ Hotel was selected by the Michelin Guide 2025 as a “Recommended Stay,” highlighting the hotel’s minimalist yet ingenious design and its unique approach to hospitality.
Spacious & welcoming
Opened in June 2022, AtypiQ features 33 private rooms with an innovative design. Each room includes a queen-size Murphy bed that retracts into the ceiling, a private bathroom with a rainfall shower, free Wi-Fi, a mini refrigerator, individual climate control, and a television equipped with Chromecast.
The rooms range from 10 to 12 m² (108 to 129 sq. ft.) and are intentionally compact. They have been designed to maximize every square meter while providing all the essential comforts of a true private hotel room.
The hotel also offers a fully equipped shared kitchen, a welcoming dining area, a self-serve breakfast with ingredients available at all times, an indoor garden, and a terrace with a fire pit overlooking Château Frontenac, the Price Building, and the Ursuline Monastery—three iconic landmarks of Old Québec.
A Local Artistic Touch in Every Room
AtypiQ Hotel is an independent property created by owners who are passionate about Québec City, its heritage, and its artists.
To incorporate local art into the guest experience in a unique way, six artworks by Québec City artists are displayed directly inside the room showers. As a result, every guest stays in a themed room featuring an original artwork integrated into the bathroom.
This artistic presence reflects the spirit of the hotel: creative, local, ingenious, and different from traditional Old Québec hotels.

A Compact and Ingenious Concept That Lets You Pay Less for the Perfect Location
AtypiQ Hotel is designed for travelers who prefer to invest in location, experiences, and discovering Québec City rather than paying for a large traditional hotel room.
The concept revolves around a queen-size Murphy bed that retracts into the ceiling during the day and easily lowers at bedtime. During the day, the room becomes an open space for working, planning activities, reading, or relaxing. At night, it transforms into a comfortable and intimate place to rest after a day exploring Old Québec.
This concept is particularly appealing to travelers who spend most of their stay exploring the city but still want a private, clean, comfortable, and well-equipped room.
A bilingual staff member (French and English) is available to answer questions and help guests make the most of their stay.
A True Private Room with Shared Spaces as a Bonus
AtypiQ Hotel is neither a hostel nor a traditional hotel. It is a compact hotel that combines the privacy of a private room with an en-suite bathroom and the social atmosphere of shared common areas.
Each room offers the essential comforts of a hotel stay: a queen-size bed, private bathroom, comfortable bedding, free Wi-Fi, mini refrigerator, individual climate control, and a television with Chromecast.
Guests also have access to a shared kitchen, dining area, indoor garden, and terrace with a fire pit. This setup is ideal for independent travelers who enjoy preparing some of their meals, working quietly for a few hours, or connecting with other visitors without giving up the comfort of a private room.
A Terrace with Views of Old Québec
AtypiQ’s terrace is one of the hotel’s most appreciated features. It offers views of Château Frontenac, the Price Building, and the Ursuline Monastery.
With its fire pit, the terrace is a pleasant place to enjoy a coffee, read, chat, or relax between sightseeing outings. We even provide marshmallows in the evening!
The shared spaces—including the kitchen, dining area, indoor garden, and terrace—are an integral part of the AtypiQ experience and allow guests to experience the hotel as more than simply a place to sleep.
